I'm honestly surprised that a lot of people feel the same way as I about how all this support behind Luigi Mangione and how frustrating it is that people started realizing that our healthcare system is bad. all the support Luigi doesn't have any movement, dialogue, or consciousness. how I see it, is that it's just a meme at this point.
it's why I think a lot of US conservatives jumped on "supporting" Luigi but hate the idea of making healthcare better bc of "sMaLl GoVeRnMeNt." it's just a meme to them that has no real meaning. but you shouldn't take US conservatives seriously bc their whole politic identity is based on "triggering" people they don't like. don't know why some leftists think we should hold hands and unite with conservatives bc they sure as fuck don't want want to be with the people who they dehumanized for a decade and more now.

^most culturally conscious tumblr users
there are meat dog breeds. heaps, like tosa and nureongi dogs. people raise and eat dogs in some places. korea, china, india, rwanda, all have livestock dogs, and all over the world, it has been a cultural norm for a bajillion times longer than we have existed.
just bc a specific food is strange to you in your culture doesnt make it evil. and honestly it's weird that you're acting like it does.

tw: vent about an experience with fatphobia
today my professor used a stereotypical image of a fat person holding a hamburger in his lecture as a joke, saying that this is where evolution is headed. he referred to the fat person as “this creature,” saying “it” was a couch potato that eats all day.
this creature.
this is a science class, by the way.
I’m so sick of being treated as subhuman. like I’m not even in the fucking room.
when you’re a fat activist, people always tell you that you have to have tough skin, you can’t let things get to you. I have countless messages giving me that sentiment in my inbox and it gets on my fucking nerves. I have big emotions. I’m soft. I’m sensitive. to everyone out there who is struggling with blatant abuse that’s somehow still socially acceptable, you can cry. cry, get a hug from a friend. do what you need to do to take care of your heart. micro aggressions hurt. you’re allowed to be angry when you’ve been harmed. you’re allowed to feel GRIEF when you’ve been harmed. you’re allowed to be soft and sensitive. it’s wild to tell someone to ‘shrug it off’ when you’ve been denied your humanity. it doesn’t stop hurting.
anti-fatness is serious. and I won’t apologize for taking it as seriously as I do.

Hey yo potentially triggering discussion of EDs in conjunction with feedism
So yeah some posted an anonymous comment on one of my posts asking if feedism is just another form of ED and the answer is complex but short answer is NO
This kink while wonderful and i wouldn’t change it for anything has in the past had a negative impact on my EDs. when i was skinny i was in such a shame spiral with societal desires to be thin but also being really attracted to fatness and deep down wanting to be fat. this period of my life where i was really fit was real bad for my ED and my desire to be fat really affected that. in the long run letting myself get fat and enjoy myself and enjoy food has been a super healing process in recovery from my ED
but here comes the turn side of that. when i started trying to get fat on purpose i think with my previous disposition of body image i got another ED. i don’t think this form of ED has an offical title or even clinically offical but im convinced im not alone in this. when i first plumping up on purpose i became obsessed to an extent where it’d be considered disordered i was weighing myself multiple times a day and being disappointed the number wasn’t going up. i was eating as much as i could making myself super uncomfortable even chugging water so the number on the scale would move up and when i would wake up the next morning with the number being lower i would beat myself up over it a return to the cycle.
this is a super unhealthy way to approach this but cause i was so repressed with my feelings and restricting myself that when i decide to get fat and it wasn’t happening at the speed i wanted it too i got into patterns mirroring that of an ED, idk if this does have a name it’s different to a BED but just obsessive over every details of whatever makes the scale go up.
THIS DOESNT HAVE TO BE THE ONLY WAY TO GAIN WEIGHT OR ENGAGE IN FEEDISM
so for me when i first started in feedism with myself yeah it did amalgamate in the form of an ED but i learnt how to cope and exist in this kink in a healthy way for my lil brain but feedism is not an ED but i do think there needs to be more education and research into feedism induced EDs and there are other ways to gain than stuffing everyday and making yourself uncomfy and beating yourself up over scales and numbers.
currently i’ve been making sure i’ve been eating three (hearty) meals a day snacks making an effort to eat good but not going too overboard. i’ve gotten better about weighing myself and setting realistic expectations with gaining i still have a lil voice in the back of my head that’s disappointed when the number isn’t what i want but it’s a lot less loud
talking about weight gain and feedism outside of horny hours has been extremely healing as well. people don’t say gym goers have an ED but just like most things people can go overboard so there is a way to fatten yourself in good ways
sorry for the long one it’s a bit more serious and stuff but i hope this helps anyone who has struggled with this or is struggling currently and has decided gaining weight isn’t for them because of similar experiences i just wanna let yall know there are ways you can do it and there is another side and it’s pretty fat over here :)

there's something profoundly distressing to me about one of the moderators of the disco elysium subreddit literally having to go on main to tell members of the sub not to advocate for violence against real, named human beings, because that is a thing that they are doing--only to have those very same sub members respond by insisting the moderator can't be serious, because everyone knows it's okay to talk about killing high net worth individuals on reddit. it's totally okay to make specific plans to kill high net worth individuals on reddit. it's totally okay and defensible and good praxis to state that anyone who isn't okay with advocating for killing specific, named high net worth individuals, will be the next up against the wall. it's a good idea to put this shit in writing actually. (what.)
like. aside from the fact that this is 1) a clear violation of reddit's terms of service and 2) could get the moderators and other members of this subreddit in serious legal trouble at a time when the law and justice in the courts is ostensibly out of reach for many of us, i just strongly doubt whether these people were actually paying attention to this game's key message about the moral defensibility of shooting people in the head. namely that there is no moral defence for it, because every shot you take has a ripple effect that quickly spirals out of your control. like that is very much a thing that happens, specifically in this game, because someone literally gets shot in the head.
where is that quote from kim kitsuragi, aka this fandom's favourite character and someone who is arguably the game's--and harry's--literal moral compass, talking about why he's glad that breechloading weapons aren't available to RCM officers? i can't find the quote, so i'm paraphrasing here, but it goes something like "can you imagine what it would be like if RCM officers didn't have to think each time they pull the trigger? the next shot becomes easier and easier. you don't even think about it anymore."

I am begging people to realise that the juice they get from calling conservatives and reactionaries hypocritical is always, always, always coming at the cost of reinforcing the hierarchical mindset that their values are based on.
Just like nobody wants to hear how disgusted you are of what people who Aren't You are doing in private, whenever you go "ha ha! You fail your own bigoted standards" at a reactionary, you are reinforcing that standard. You're saying you're better at obeying the bigoted standard than the bigot!!!
Stop acting like your homophobia and disgust with gay men is acceptable because you don't think there's anything wrong with their sinful, gross, unnatural, punchline-worthy lifestyles.

the below is excerpted from Ivan's conversation with Satan in The Brothers Karamazov, Sec. 4.11.9 (The Devil. Ivan Fyodorvich's Nightmare):
I, for instance, demand simply and directly that I be destroyed. No, they say, live, because without you there would be nothing. If everything on earth were sensible, nothing would happen. Without you there would be no events, and there must be events. And so I serve grudgingly, for the sake of events, and I do the unreasonble on others. People take this whole comedy for something serious, despite all their undeniable intelligence. That is their tragedy. Well, they suffer, of course, but...still, they live, they live really, not in fantasy; for suffering is life. Without suffering, what pleasure would there be in it—everything would turn into an endless prayer service: holy, but a bit dull. And me? I suffer, and still do not live. I am an x in an indeterminte equation. I am some sort of ghost of life that has lost all ends and beginnings, and I've finally even forgotten what to call myself. [...] Mephistopheles, when he comes to Faust, testifies of himself that he desires evil, yet does only good. Well, let him do as he likes, it's quite the opposite with me. I am perhaps the only man in all of nature who loves the truth and sincerely desires good.
oh, so bsd!fyodor isn't a christ figure. he's a satanic figure, as projected by ivan karamazov. which makes sense, considering everyone calls him a demon. and how he behaves. and his role as an instigator and adversary. and his schism between selves. and his comment that perfection is boring because he can't observe man's karma through perfection. and his aspect on earth as a parasite incarnated in and through those who've killed. and that he suffers but does not live. and that time he convinced ace to hang himself. okay.
(natsume is a buddhist, and also a cat, for whom there is levity and significance in embracing the absence of inherent existence and nature. so i can understand, now, why V was so concerned with him in The Untold Origins.)

oda gave the most serious and realistic and cunning laugh to donquixote doflamingo and it's absolutely saying something. doffy is the villain and what's scary is how he's an amalgam of all the worst things in humanity. it's fucking insane - seeing doflamingo is too real. even more so watching him through the lens of a person of color (i the viewer) whose country has lived through centuries of colonization and at present, neocolonization and its lasting effects.

What I love about Tumblr is being able to curate your online experience.
What I DON'T love about being online in general (as this is not exclusive to Tumblr) is the presumption that as long as anyone has even a mildly popular account/platform is that they have to know and be on the ball making statements about every current issue under the fucking sun or they're somehow the devil.
Yes this is about Palestine. Look I am on the side of Palestine here but sometimes you just wanna go to your little space on the internet to catch a fucking break, not have people blasting an air horn in your ears every minute because you're not constantly talking about 'current issue'. And I shouldn't have to lead with 'I support Palestine' to say that without fear of getting fucking blasted.
If you're any kind of person who thinks it's okay to call for, encourage or participate in bullying people online for curating their own spaces, claiming they're being 'silent' on an issue just because they haven't said anything specific about it - fuck you, you're an asshole. Get off my blog.
It's people like you who are driving compassion fatigue. You're literally making things worse. You actually want to do something constructive? Get the hell off the internet, stop harassing people and actively DO something constructive. If you cannot do that due to personal restrictions, find another way to do something constructive online that ISN'T harassing people. Because harassing people doesn't do SHIT.

Saturday, November 16, 1996 Book looks for Oasis from press Invasive tabloid stories prompt third Gallagher brother to tell his own
By JANE STEVENSON Toronto Sun
Don't Look Back In Anger appears to have double meaning for British supergroup Oasis. It's not only the title of the band's current single, but also the mantra of Paul Gallagher, the older brother of notorious band members Noel and Liam. "I mean, if it helps one person, then it's done its job," says Gallagher of his book, Brothers: From Childhood To Oasis, which details the three siblings' violent childhood at the hands of their brutish, mean-spirited father. "There's other people growing up in the same environment -- the only difference is they haven't got two brothers who are the biggest rock and roll stars in the world." Brothers, which was only released in Canada two weeks ago, is already a huge success in England, where it's sold 45,000 copies since mid-September. It helped that the publishers (General Publishing in Canada), who had only expected it to sell about 10,000, moved up the release date to capitalize on the band's headline-making cancellation of the remainder of their U.S. tour. "I expected it to do more but I expect more than anyone else," says Gallagher, sounding a lot like his ambitious brother Noel, who has already layed down four tracks at Abbey Road Studios for the new Oasis album expected next April. Book sales will likely pick up again given the recent Group of the Year honors for Oasis at the MTV Europe music awards, not to mention Liam's arrest on suspicion of possession of cocaine. "It's just mass hysteria over here," Gallagher says. "I mean if Liam walked backwards in the street, they'd say he was retarded and make a story out of it. The press over here is just like scum, basically, and I'm not afraid of saying that. We get doorsteps every day of the week, which means the press just arrive on your door." In fact, Gallagher had just arrived back from London where he was visiting Liam, who has to report back to police on Dec. 30. "I've been doing my Highway To Heaven bit, which means angel of mercy sort of stuff," Gallagher jokes before adding that Liam is holding up well. "He's fine, he just doesn't want permanent press attention 'cause he hasn't really got a private life anymore -- and it's very, very sad that it has to come to this." Understandably, neither Liam nor Noel initially wanted their older brother writing Brothers, but it apparently had less to do with airing their dirty laundry in public than with Paul's choice of collaborator, Manchester-based journalist Terry Christian. "They still don't like him, probably because he's a Man United fan, but there you go." (Liam, Noel and Paul are supporters of Manchester City, the local soccer rivals of Manchester United.) But Gallagher decided to proceed, with the blessing of their mother, Peggy, and says the book has now brought the three siblings closer together. "I think Noel has read it, and he's behind it. Liam probably read the bits about himself 'cause his attention span isn't very large, and he says it's okay. "In the end, I don't really care, okay or not. I mean it was a book that was personal to me and everyone says, `Well, why share it with the world?' And I say, `Well, the world is on my nerves at the moment.' Cause the press was just digging up stories just for the fun of it, trying to disgrace us." There are actually nine books about Oasis currently in Britian, but, as Gallagher points out, "I'm the only one with the divine right to write one. "Brothers are brothers and they'll fight anyway but at the end of the day they still love each other. They've got a stronger bond than anyone on the outside could ever have. You can have lifetime friends until you're ninety-nine but your brothers are forever." As for their estranged father, who still lives in Manchester and has sold his own stories to the tabloids, Gallagher doesn't think he's read the book. Nor does he care. "He just thinks that nothing's happened. He thinks we're his three darling little sons. Well, we're not his sons, we're me mom's sons."
Toronto Sun on Paul Gallagher’s Brothers book release, as copied/transcribed by a fan and posted in the Oasis Usenet (24 November 1996)
